YEARS OUTSIDE SHOW UP ON YOUR FACE

Tightness that doesn’t go. Redness across the cheekbones that lingers long after you’ve come inside. Skin that feels rough, reactive and never quite settled. That’s what sun, salt, wind and cold air do over a season — and over a decade. Most moisturisers are built for bathrooms. This one is built for what happens after you’ve been out in it.

Look after your skin

FOUR JOBS, DONE PROPERLY

Three actives. Three jobs. Sun, wind, salt and cold do measurable damage — a barrier
that stops holding water, redness that lingers, skin that feels tight for hours. Each one is dealt with directly.

HYDRATE

Aloe · Glycerin · Panthenol

Aloe and glycerin are the second and third ingredients in this formula — most of what's in the bottle is hydration done properly, not filler carrying a hero ingredient. Panthenol works below the surface, helping the barrier hold on to what it's given rather than losing it to the wind an hour later.

Well-hydrated skin also looks smoother. Dehydrated skin shows every line.

SOOTHE

Bisabolol · Allantoin · Black Oat
Bisabolol is the active anti-inflammatory fraction isolated from chamomile. It settles the flush across the cheekbones and the sting when you come back inside. Allantoin and black oat extract sit behind it, calming skin that's reactive after a cold session or a long day in the wind.

ABSORB

Isoamyl Laurate Derived from coconut and sugarcane, it does the job silicones do — that dry, weightless finish — without the silicones. Apply it, give it a minute, then pull on a wetsuit hood, a helmet or a pair of goggles. You won't feel it there, and it won't run into your eyes when you start sweating.

This is why it absorbs the way it does. It isn't a claim, it's an ingredient.

DEFEND

Vitamin E · Sodium Phytate

Vitamin E for antioxidant support. Sodium phytate binds the metal ions that urban particulates leave sitting on skin — the part of the brief most outdoor skincare ignores because it's less romantic than saltwater.

No perfume. No essential oils. No silicones. No alcohol.

Twenty-five ingredients, every one of them published in full on the product page, because you should be able to check.

What to expect from using Griff twice daily

First Use

Absorbs in seconds. Skin feels comfortable rather than tight.

First Week

Less of that post-session sting. Skin holds moisture longer through a day outside.

Week 4

Healthier, clearer looking skin, fine lines soften and reduced redness

Ongoing

Used morning and night, skin that's regularly exposed to sun, salt and wind stays more comfortable and less reactive.

Results vary by individual and severity of accumulated skin damage. Consistent daily use (AM + PM) recommended.

House of Griff Environmental Exposure Guide

How the Daily Moisturiser
protects against environmental damage

Sun exposure

A day in strong sun leaves skin hot, flushed and reactive, and the oxidative stress carries on after you've come inside.

WHY THE GRIFF FORMULA WORKS

Bisabolol, the active anti-inflammatory fraction of chamomile, settles that flush. Aloe vera — the second ingredient in the formula — takes the heat out of skin on contact. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that works in the skin's lipid layer, where sun-driven oxidative stress happens.

Sun protection is a separate job. Use a broad-spectrum SPF30 or higher over the top.

SALTWATER

Salt draws water out of skin by osmosis. Come out of the sea and your face tightens as it dries — that's the barrier stripped of its ability to hold moisture.

WHY THE GRIFF FORMULA WORKS

Panthenol works below the surface, reducing water loss and supporting the barrier as it recovers. Aloe and glycerin put hydration back immediately. Allantoin softens the rough, tight feel that follows a long session.

And Ascophyllum nodosum — North Atlantic knotted wrack — is the seaweed that covers the rocks at low tide. It survives being submerged in salt water, frozen, and baked in the sun twice a day, which takes a serious antioxidant system. We use an extract of it for antioxidant support. It comes out of the same water you've just been in.

WIND & COLD

Bisabolol is the ingredient for windburn specifically — it calms the inflammation that follows exposure. Panthenol helps the barrier hold on to water rather than losing it to the air. Allantoin conditions skin that's gone rough and reactive. Isoamyl laurate matters here too: it absorbs in seconds, so you can get a hood, a helmet or a buff on straight afterwards without dragging.

POLLUTION

The least romantic of the four and the one most outdoor skincare ignores. Urban air deposits particulate matter on skin, including metal ions that drive oxidative reactions long after you've walked through it.

WHY THE GRIFF FORMULA WORKS

Sodium phytate is a chelator — it binds those metal ions so they can't do that. Vitamin E provides antioxidant support alongside it. Black oat extract calms skin that's reactive from the combination of traffic, grit and cold air.

If you commute by bike or on foot through a city, this is the group doing the work.

HOW TO APPLY

STEP 1

Two pumps, morning and night

Apply to clean skin. Face, neck and ears — the areas taking the most exposure. Two pumps covers all three.

STEP 2

After a day outside, use more

Sun, salt and wind pull a lot of moisture out. Three or four pumps after a long session, applied in layers — let the first sink in, then go again.

STEP 3

Then your sunscreen, if you're heading out

GRIFF goes on first and absorbs. Sunscreen goes on top, where it needs to sit. Give it a minute or two between the two steps.

Who is this for?

Anyone whose skin spends time in the weather. Surfers, swimmers, skiers, cyclists, runners, hikers, farmers, builders, anyone working outside, anyone commuting through a city in February. Sun, salt, wind and cold don't discriminate, and neither does the formula — there's nothing in it specific to men's skin or women's skin.

What makes this different from a normal moisturiser?

Most daily moisturisers are formulated for a controlled indoor environment. This one is built around three actives chosen for what sun, salt, wind and cold actually do to skin. Panthenol helps the barrier hold water after hours of wind and cold have stripped it. Bisabolol, from chamomile, calms the redness that follows exposure. Isoamyl laurate makes it absorb fast enough to go on under a helmet or a wetsuit hood without leaving any film. It's a serum texture rather than a thick cream — that's deliberate, and it's why it disappears in seconds.

Why don't you have SPF in the formula?

Because moisturising and sun protection are different jobs, and combining them compromises both. A moisturiser needs to absorb into the skin. Sunscreen needs to sit on top of it to work. So GRIFF goes on first, to clean skin. Give it a minute or two to absorb. Then your sunscreen over the top. Follow with a broad-spectrum SPF30 or higher. If you're going in the sea, use one that's water-resistant.

Will this help with sun damage?

It will keep sun-exposed skin hydrated, calm and comfortable, and it's formulated for people whose skin takes a lot of it. But it isn't a treatment for existing pigmentation or deep lines — nothing sold as a cosmetic is. For those, see a dermatologist. What we can tell you is that daily use plus proper sun protection is what stops things getting worse.

Is your packaging really sustainable?

The bottle is made with Prevented Ocean Plastic — waste collected from coastal areas at risk of it reaching the sea, through a certified and traceable programme — and it's recyclable. It isn't a perfect solution. Plastic is still plastic. But it's a bottle that took waste out of the system rather than adding to it, and for a product used mostly by people who spend their weekends in the water, that felt like the minimum.

What should I expect, and how soon?

First use — it absorbs in seconds and skin feels comfortable rather than tight. First week — less of that post-session sting, and skin holds moisture longer through a day outside. Ongoing — used morning and night, regularly exposed skin stays more comfortable and less reactive. Well-hydrated skin also looks smoother; dehydrated skin shows every line.
